Multi-Format DAC & Format Converter

“The measured performance of the Weiss 204 is state of the digital art.”- John Atkinson, Stereophile

The Weiss DAC204 has everything we want in a compact digital source: great detail, luscious tone, and satisfying depth in playback. This component brings Weiss engineering into more compact systems while maintaining the clarity and tonal integrity the brand is known for.

How we use it:

  • Plugged directly into a Roon Nucleus with a USB cable.

  • As a stand alone streamer such as the Primare NP5 mk2

    • The Primare is a great product to partner the DAC204, as it allows you to choose either a hardwired or wireless connection to your music server over your WiFi network.

The Weiss DAC204 is immensely flexible in terms of inputs and output options and provides options for conversion rates and gain.

Our listening perspective

We recently spent time comparing Weiss and Grimm approaches to digital playback in real listening environments. If you’re evaluating how much system control and DSP flexibility you want in your digital front end, check out our blog post for some helpful context: Digital Tools We Trust: Grimm + Weiss in Context.

Accepted formats:

PCM 44.1kHz up to 384 kHz, DSD 64x / 128x.
