About Fern & Roby

Fern & Roby is the In-House brand & product line of Tektonics Design Group, our 15 year old contract design and manufacturing business. We love materials, design, & making things for a living!

We like to get our hands dirty and do the work ourselves! We make our products in our 20,000 square foot shop in Richmond, Virginia. We don't do everything, but we do the majority of it. We aren't a company that just bolts together things made by other people. We design & manufacture goods from raw materials and believe this is what makes us a great company!

We believe in being a part of the tradition of American manufacturing and provide full-time jobs with real benefits like great health insurance and paid time off for all of our staff. These commitments encourage great people to join our firm and make lifelong careers with us.

Taking good care of our team enables us to do a better job of taking care of our clientele. You can't accomplish this kind of dedication to results when you outsource the important work of manufacturing to someone else and disconnect yourself from the care of the people making the product for you. When you buy from Fern & Roby, you are buying from people who care about your experience and love their work.

Our deep knowledge of materials and processes learned from our years of work as a contract design and manufacturing firm at Tektonics allows us to participate in the long and rich tradition of American product design, manufacturing, and craft. Our work has a weight and tactility that encourages one to participate and interact with the finished product.

Our selection of material is guided by the principles of local and domestic sourcing and in most cases driven toward recycled, reclaimed or responsibly manufactured goods. We choose to manufacture in America and are proud to be part of our local economy.
